Alas, still no scanner. Then again, I have no excuse, because I haven't been out to look for one. Maybe on Wednesday after I get out of work, I will visit the Salvation Army near 10th St in Union City. If they don't have it there, I may browse their clothes. Wednesday is "FAMILY SALE DAY" or something.

This summer...
UPDATE: Just being realistic. Let's change it to three days a week. I can't always get here for some reason.
---
I'll hopefully post some data from my kind-of-hectic schedule soon enough, but I just wanted to announce that I will be uploading art every day. It's a challenge I put upon myself to put more work out. Who knows, the drawings may be good.
I just have to get a scanner.
Bah!

Quote of the pattern-that-is-not-consistent
"I should point out that something that's occurred to me several times in my carreer, I'm always amazed later on when I realize how little I had to lose. Which I think is a really good thing to tell younger people. that I had so many people, there's a lot of shout and fraught when you take on something big." When I was taking the Letterman post, you could just feel it, "Oh, that's pretty big shoes to fill." That's all I heard: "Pretty big shoes to fill. Pretty big shoes to fill." I remember, I did an interview with Katie Couric, she said, "Well, what if after this is over, what if it fails and you're just a Trivial Pursuit question?" and I thought, "Great! I'll be a Trivial Pursuit question!" Like, that's better than nothing. If you're willing to risk some humiliation and some pain, you can do amazing things in this world." -Conan O'Brien

The Good, The Bad, and the...

Long time. Make it quick. Lots to do.
Obviously, inspiration for this image derived from the Sergio Leone film, "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", featuring Clint Eastwood. I loved the graphic, iconic nature of the 2004 DVD release of the famous western. (Technically, spaghetti western, I know).
Since I was driving Super Shot towards a futuristic western of sorts, I thought I would put him in Eastwood's place. Of course, with a slightly different pose.
I've been researching western films so far, having watched "The Magnificient Seven" and "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" to more recent westerns like "3:10 to Yuma" and "Appaloosa". Trying to find what makes a western a western.
Anyway, this is becoming too long to be quick.
I don't know why I haven't uploaded much stuff. It's either I haven't done much worthy of being uploaded or I'm just lazy to scan.
Partly because of a lot of things going on.
Nut brown ink. One hour.

Moles.
So, I finally bought one of those fancy Moleskine sketchbooks everyone carries around.
I find it really convenient, as opposed to carrying around my 11x14" sketchy.
Don't get me wrong. I love how vast it is compared to the 3x5" Pocket sketchbook I recently bought, but sometimes, it's nice to have something you can jot your ideas into.
I guess, it's also a trendy thing. Then again, these books have been around for a long while, so I guess it's beyond trendy.
I don't care. I just want something to draw in on the fly.
1. Captain Planet
2. Negative Bond and Mace Richardson (feat. Negative Bond's actual name!)
3. Narco character - Caustic
4. Narco character - Super Shot

waiting.
I'm waiting for my sun-thickened linseed oil to drain out of the bottle into this larger, former, pickle jar.

Stuff is like honey.
I thought I'd post this screencap I took late last year, when I was writing the research paper for History of Communication Design.
It was fun watching The Dark Knight while writing it.

Quote of the Every-fifteen days.
"We've got much more control than money. You can't get everything. We live in a society where money is what people want, so they can't get the control. We chose. Control is freedom. People say we're control freaks, but control is controlling your destiny without controlling other people. We're not trying to manipulate other people, just controlling what we do ourselves. Controlling what we do is being free. People should stop thinking that an artist that controls what he does is a bad thing. A lot of artists today are just victims, not having control, and they're not free. And that's pathetic. If you start being dependent on money, then money has to reach a point to fit your expenses."

Brian the Fro variants
A variant (and its many variants) for (any) Mace Richardson comic. Elias and I haven't really sorted when exactly Once Upon a Time in Chinatown is supposed to take place in the overall Mace Richardson story.
Been experimenting with inking techniques to perhaps use with the interiors, covers, or both.
I have a good idea of what I want, but it's always a good idea to practice.
The pencils are first image. The second image appears closest to the version I want.
Essentially, organic lines contrasted with diagrammatic/linear qualities.
