My First Brooklyn Show

Joe of Hearts

LAST-MINUTE-EXCITING-UPDATE:
I'll be participating in my first out-of-Jersey group exhibition tonight at Bottleneck Gallery.
"I Love You, Man," runs from May 10-26th.

My piece, Joe of Hearts, features the Joes from last year's sci-fi venture, Looper.

Quickie: Caution

Is there any reason why I shouldn't be drawing more Caution? No.

Quickie: Phantom of the Opera

Drew the Phantom of the Opera for Month of Love on Saturday.

I have to say, these daily drawings are a lot like exercise. Y'know building a routine and all. I'm getting to know my hands and abilities better. You could say I am learning more things about my ability all at a faster rate. Technically, I draw every day, but I don't finish something every day. Drawing challenges like Month of Love or the 30-Day Drawing Challenge is probably one of the best ways to learn.

Try out a daily drawing challenge. You never know what you'll find out.

Inspiration

I drew these two people, Daniel Fishel and Christine Goodman, as my inspiration for the 30-Day Drawing Challenge I'm doing on tumblr. It's very true that these two are heroes. I have my own reasons why I chose two people, but I think it's beside the point. It's important to have heroes, role models, cheeseburgers, among other things.

Updates - Month of Love, Extra Bitches

Setting up at Hudson County Art Supply in Jersey City.
So, I realized I'm not ready to try and update this blogger three times a week, let alone once. I am going to be better on this. I mean, I'm participating in so many web-related things already. Month of Love, a 30-Day Drawing Challenge, and this week--Extra Bitches! The Wesley Allsbrook run tumblr is always a treat to see in my feed. I'm happy to be able to participate.

Thank Jeanine Henderson for the lettering, and then Marc Scheff for the additional copy.

Month of Love has been a great time, like the 30-Day Drawing Challenge I started in late-January. Essentially, it's the same format at the 30-Day, except we don't know all the challenges ahead of time, and of course, they all revolve around love. I'm not really a Valentines' Day person, but I thought it would be good to exercise my image-making abilities. Really put them to the test. Besides, a person can only handle so much mushy content. Here's a few of the MoL challenges I've uploaded so far.

Love at First Sight (Maps & Atlases)

Aside from all these blog-related things, I'm still working on Instigatorzine and my own personal work. Here's a peek at a quick spot I did for IZ's next issue due out in March.

Okay, well, it's not really a peek, but I own IZ, so tough.

Be back soon. Really, I will.
